SEND Information

All children may experience some difficulties in learning from time to time during their school life. We aim to provide equal access to the whole curriculum for all children including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

SEND Support

This page has been set up primarily to support parents of children who may need additional support in school. Below is a list of information websites, tips and resources to help you support your children with their additional needs, learning and self-esteem. Children have varying needs and there is no one size approach fits all. It is quite common for children to have additional needs that span all these areas, so select the resources that meet the needs of your child, without worrying too much about the label or category they fall under. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and these SEND strategies will be beneficial to many children, whether or not they have a diagnosis. The link below will open on your device as a pdf. The SENDCo will continue to update it regularly, so please let the school know if there is something you feel could be added.
Executive Functioning

This is the set of mental skills which include working memory, flexible thinking and self-control, which many children find difficult to engage. There are lots of activities and ideas on the Pathway to Success website.

What are Zones of Regulation?

Within school we use the Zones of Regulation across all classes to support children with identifying and managing their emotions. We have included in this section a link to the the Zones of Regulation website. This contains plenty of information, ideas and free downloadable resources that many parents and carers may find useful for home.

All teaching staff are involved in the learning and development of pupils with SEND. Parents and carers are involved at all stages.

We place great emphasis on identifying pupils with additional needs as early as possible, therefore ensuring a differentiated curriculum to accommodate individual needs and allow maximum access to the curriculum. Where a child has a particular individual need, we will make reasonable adjustments to help them overcome their difficulties which may include additional support. Depending on the identified need this support may take place in class, in a small group or on an individual basis. On occasion, additional support is sought from an external agency such as, School Health, the Behaviour Support Service, or the Educational Psychology Service.

The Local Offer

Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is known as the ‘Local Offer’.

The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area. Information is published as part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act 2014.
